Pierce County residents can expect increased air traffic and noise until the end of the month.

The Public Affairs office at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) announced the Special Operations Unit will be doing routine military training from Aug. 21 – 31.

“Soldiers will use training ammunition and other training devices to make the exercise as real as possible,” the press release said.

Throughout the ten days, you can expect “periods of increased air traffic to include low-flying helicopters, tilt-rotor aircraft, and airplanes during hours of darkness,” according to the press release.

Soldiers at Joint Base Lewis-McChord will be training for “real world missions,” the release said.

JBLM is not the only location undergoing training. There will also be soldiers training at the Yakima Training Center and at the Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake.

“This element of U.S. Army Special Operations command is a lethal, agile, and versatile special operations force that conducts forcible entry operations and special operations raids across the entire spectrum of combat,” the release said.
